Summer Vibes

Although August is the final month of summer, it is still one of the year's HOTTEST months. The summer heat can be intolerable. We know, and we get it; it's annoying. Say what you want, though; we all know Summer is a fan favorite.

Deep down, everyone has at least one reason to appreciate the summer season. (Yup, we got rhymes at GWC, haha)

Well, until the heat starts to ruin things. While Summer vibes urge us (especially the hotties) to be glowy-skinned and fun-loving, the summer heat can harm your skin and dampen a good vibe real quick. But, like always at GWC, we got you. After this blog post, you'll be equipped with skincare routines made to battle the heat and keep you smooth and cute for the rest of the season.

But first, a quick lesson in summer and skin because summer skin goes beyond antiperspirant and body glimmer.

The August heat can cause skin inflammation, leading to different skin issues. Some common ones are acne, bumps (mostly heat rash), ingrown hairs, sunburn, and breakouts.

It leaves the skin stickier than usual, allowing oils and other unwanted particles to stick to the skin and clog pores. This causes acne, and acne can be anywhere you have skin (yup, even down there). Heat rash occurs when sweat glands are clogged, trapping and sweat under the skin instead of allowing it to evaporate like normal. Because the glands are clogged, they cannot produce enough sweat to cool the skin resulting in a rash. While not a direct result of the summer heat, ingrown hairs are more common during summer. We practice hair removal methods to match our summer outfits, and when the hair tries to regrow and gets trapped in the skin, we are left with ingrown hairs and sometimes painful bumps.

IF YOU'RE A CLUBBIE WHO EXPERIENCES HEAT RASHES DURING SUMMER, YOU SHOULD KNOW:

  1. Most heat rashes go away on their own
  2. Keeping cool and dry will help treat the inflammation. Try staying indoors or under a fan to help.
  3. Avoid over-dressing. Too much clothing during the summer can cause your body to overheat.
  4. If the rash is itchy, try soothing lotions like calamine to help.

IF ACNE IS A SUMMER SKIN CONCERN FOR YOU, HERE IS A SIMPLE STEP-BY-STEP ROUTINE THAT CAN HELP:

    1. GENTLE CLEANSER

No matter what the skin issue is, you should always start with clean skin. Suppose your acne problem would usually be covered with a bathing suit bottom or trunks. In that case, our Yoni Wash is the perfect cleanser for your new routine.

    1. SERUM

Serums are concentrated formulas that absorb quickly into the skin. They come in many different variants, and each is unique. Some serums are made for particular parts of the body. For example, our PFB Vanish is formulated to treat skin conditions typical for the vaginal area, like ingrown hairs and hyperpigmentation.

    1. LIGHT OIL OR MOISTURIZER

SINCE THIS IS A SUMMER ROUTINE, LIGHTWEIGHT PRODUCTS ARE ESSENTIAL.

    1. SUNSCREEN

SPF! SPF! SPF! As beautiful as the sun may be, it can be pretty damaging to our skin (no matter how poppin' your melanin may be). Sunscreen protects our skin from harmful sun rays and is available at different levels of sun protection factor or SPF. Regularly, you should use sunscreen with at least SPF 30. However, if you spend more time outdoors, you should use SPF 60 and reapply every two hours.

IF INGROWN HAIRS ARE A CONCERN FOR YOU THIS SUMMER, TRY THESE TIPS TO HELP TREAT THEM!

    1. DRY BRUSHING

Before or during your shower, use a dry brush to exfoliate your skin. Hold the skin taut and brush towards your heart. Dry brushing can help to detoxify your skin by increasing blood circulation. It also promotes the drainage and flow of lymph through the repeated motion, like a lymph massage. By exfoliating, you're removing the dead skin cells that would potentially clog your skin, making it difficult for the hair to grow out, creating ingrown hair. Dry brushing can be done daily, but clubbies should especially dry brush once they can see hair growing again. Our Great Brush is a perfect option for dry brushing, and like all our products, it's available right from our site.

    1. SKIN SCRUB

Gently massage a skin scrub in the area most prone to ingrown hairs. Scrubs like our Vagi Scrub that use coarse but gentle ingredients like sugar are perfect for your yoni and other regions. After you've showered, treat the area with PFB Vanish formulated perfectly for this reason.

    OTHER SUMMER SKIN TIPS:

    • Take showers more often. By showering at least twice a day, you can help yourself keep cool and allow your pores to stay clear. Because we sweat more during the summer, pores are more likely to be become clogged. Our Yoni Wash can help with clear pores in your most sensitive areas.
    • Change out of wet undergarments. Sweating is a natural occurrence, and so are summer water fights and impromptu dips in the pool. However, staying dry will help your skin in more ways than one during the heat.

Summer is the season of freedom. Kids enjoy being freed from school and early bedtimes. Parents can catch a break and send their kids to grandparents in distant places. Friends can enjoy making plans without worrying about the weather. Hot girls that love to show skin are freed from heavy garments! So make sure to follow the tips to look and feel good in the skin you’re in!

Let us at GWC free you from summer skin issues, so you can enjoy the rest of your hot smooth skin summer!
